Motorcycle Ride Benefits Teen Killed By Drunken Driver

70-Mile Ride Through Westmoreland County Raises Money For Tombstone

POSTED: 6:37 pm EDT August 10, 2008

Motorcycles rumbled through Westmoreland County on Sunday for a benefit ride remembering a teenager killed in a crash.

Thunder Rolls sponsored the benefit run for Christopher Hays, who was killed by a drunken driver in April along Route 30 as he walked home from his job at Taco Bell.

The 70-mile ride wound its way through Westmoreland County with several stops along the way.

The money raised from the ride will go to help the Hays family.

"We are trying to get everyone to get the money together for a headstone," said Anita Anderson, an organizer of the event.

The man charged in Hays' death admitted to drinking 20 beers and 10 shots before getting behind the wheel.
