Clinton Supporter Apologizes For Obama Slam
A supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton is apologizing for remarks he made about Barack Obama during a Clinton campaign rally in South Carolina on Sunday.Bob Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, said he made some "very inappropriate remarks" about Obama in his "zeal" to support Clinton.During the rally Johnson hinted at Obama's admitted use of drugs as a teenager. He later claimed he'd been referring to the senator's days as a community organizer.
Johnson backed off that explanation on Friday, two days after Clinton said she found the comments to be "out of bounds."In a statement, Johnson said he's "truly sorry" and that he hopes his apology will be accepted. The move comes as Clinton tries to mend ties with black voters after engaging in a war of words over race with Obama. The two have since called a truce.
